Harvest Fundraising

In many parts of the world, a lack of clean water means that crops  fail and families often go hungry. This year for our Harvest Appeal we made food hampers from items our generous visitors donated. The hampers were then raffled and we raised £72 for our chosen charity, Wateraid. We hope our donation to this worthwhile cause will help to bring safe water to communities around the world at Harvest time.

Prizes for Orchard House

Visitors to Orchard House were proud to display their handicraft work at the annual Newby & Scalby in Bloom Show and celebrate winning a clutch of prizes. As well as being enjoyable pastimes the activities provided at Orchard House encourage  our visitors to keep physically and mentally active, make new friends and have fun. Entering the show is a highlight of the  year for our visitors and with many categories to choose from there is something for everyone to be involved in and it helps us to be truly part of our local community.

Hobbies, A Wedding & Wimbledon!

Do you have any interesting hobbies or pastimes? At Orchard House we want to hear about any interests or pursuits you may have had in the past or still keep up today.
A hobby is a regular activity that is done for enjoyment. It can cover a wide range of skills and activities such as creative or artistic pursuits, sports, music, dancing or collecting themed objects such as stamps or coins.
Since the 19th century engagement in hobbies has increased and the emotional, physical and psychological benefits cannot be under estimated.
Participating in a hobby can not only benefit your wellbeing but it provides a perfect opportunity to socialise with others with similar interests; So from A –Z, whether you have a passion for Art or Zebra spotting we want to hear about it! Come and join our discussion groups this week, perhaps you have something that you made or collected you could show us?

If tennis is your passion this week marks the start of Wimbledon, the oldest tennis tournament in the world, founded 139 years ago. In 2013 Andy Murray became the 1st British male singles champion since Fred Perry in 1936. We will be having some light hearted giant tennis games at Orchard House to enter into the spirit of things; If that sounds a bit too energetic why not join us for scones and strawberries?!!

Finally we must mention the wonderful finale to last week’s events when our beautiful team leader Trish married the handsome John. June & David, pictured with Trish were delighted to share in their special day. We know you would want to join us in sending Mr & Mrs Axcell our congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy married life.

Carers Week 2016

Every week at Orchard House we care for over 50 people who have a carer at home; It maybe a husband, wife, son or daughter or perhaps a kind hearted neighbour or friend.
