Join our Memory Walk

Orchard House is supporting the Memory Walk. Many of our team and their families will be 'walking to beat dementia'. We would like as many of our friends to join us as possible. The family friendly  route is around Peasholm Park and it starts at 1.30pm on Sunday 17th September. Combating Carers Fatigue

Each year during Carers Week Orchard House aims to show our support to local care- givers. This year we are joining forces with Scarborough & Ryedale Carers Resource and we will be hosting an afternoon of Mindfulness & Relaxation at Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church. All caregivers are welcome to join us from 1.30pm-2.30pm and Orchard House is offering free places* for your dependant to enable you to benefit from this event.

As well as enjoying the short Mindfulness session  refreshments will be served  and every attendee will take home an info pack and goodie bag.

Dementia Awareness Week 2017

We are opening our doors to the community for Dementia Awareness Week for the 2017 #United Against Dementia campaign. Each day from the 15th-19th May pop in to find out

  • what help and support is available locally
  • how you can become a Dementia Friend
  • answers to any questions  you have about supporting someone with dementia

On Tuesday 16th everyone is invited to join us at 2pm for 'The Orchard House Jukebox', a fun music session with songs to sing a long to from the 50's and 60's.  Refreshments will be from our Retro Soda Bar made by visitors to Orchard House! As well as an opportunity for you to find out more about how we use activities to promote well-being for our visitors there will be a chance for you to speak to a support worker from the Alzheimer's Society ( no appointment necessary)

Everyday we  will have memorabillia on display  and we are compiling a local history book of Scarborough, 'When We Were Young'. Please do come and share your memories with us.

On Friday 19th  we are hosting our popular 'Outside the Box' project where we get an opportunity to look at and handle objects from the Scarborough Museums Trust, this popular event is great for triggering memories and as an aid to reminisence.
